Aftercare & Size Guidance

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend gentle hand washing your  Scarfs, Shawls and Beanies 100%  Alpaca garment, using a mild detergent suitable for wool or silk clothing.   Following the detergent manufacturer’s instructions, ensure the water is just lukewarm (maximum temperature 30° C).  Never use chlorine bleach.

Once clean, rinse several times to remove any traces of detergent.   Gently hand press the garment to remove excess water, avoiding creasing or twisting.  Allow the item to dry naturally in a flat position, to avoid distortion of shape or stretching.  Do not tumble dry.

If you wish to iron the garment, first ensure that the iron is on a cool setting.

To remove stubborn stains, you may choose to have the garment dry cleaned.

What are Pillings?

Pilling in sweaters is caused by rubbing during wear, commonly occurring in areas around the elbows, armpits, sleeves, belly, and sides where the arms of the garment come into contact with the body of the sweater.

Keeping Your Wool Clothes in Top Condition: Preventing and Removing Pilling

Preventing Pilling:

When wearing wool clothing minimize abrasion to reduce wear and tear.

Before washing, turn your wool clothes inside-out.

Avoid using softeners liquids.

Removing Pilling:

Use a "de-piller" or "fabric shaver" to effectively remove pills and restore your clothing to its original appearance.

For a small number of pills, gently remove them by hand after drying or before ironing.

Use a comb to remove pills carefully.

HOW TO STORE YOUR ALPACA GARMENTS

Wool clothes can be a great addition to any wardrobe. They're warm, comfortable, and stylish. However, when it comes to storing wool clothes, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure they stay in great condition. Here are some tips for storing wool clothes:

  • Clean before storing: Always make sure your wool garments are clean before putting them into storage. This helps prevent odours, stains, and the build-up of dirt. Dirt and stains can attract moths and other insects, which can damage your clothes.
  • Fold rather than hang: Wool clothes are best folded rather than hung. Hanging can cause the fibres to stretch and distort, leading to misshapen clothing. Fold your wool clothes neatly and store them in a drawer or on a shelf.
  • Check on your garments: Make sure to check on your wool clothes every now and then to ensure no moisture has appeared or any insects have crept inside. If you notice any damage or signs of insects, take action immediately. You can use mothballs or cedar to help prevent insect damage.

By following these tips, you can keep your wool clothes in great condition for years to come. Remember to clean them before storing, fold rather than hang, and check on them periodically to ensure they stay in top condition.
